Q: What type of technologies does Vancouver Coastal Health use for STI/STD & HIV testing and/or outreach?

A: Vancouver Coastal Health provides full HIV/STI testing and treatment and referrals to community services.  The Steamworks clinics are staffed by registered nurses specially trained in STI testing and treatment and uses early HIV NAAT testing which shortens the window period following a risk event to 10 days. HIV instant testing is also available.

Q: Where can I get more information?

A: Health Initiative for Men (HIM) offers a wide range of STI/HIV testing and treatment services as well as counselling and mental health support for GBQ men and gender diverse people through its health canters in Vancouver. HIM also offers a variety of sexual health tools and resources at: www.checkhimout.ca
